NH-719 Death Toll Rises; Congress Renews Six-Lane Demand
Following a fatal accident on NH-719, Congress criticizes the BJP government and reiterates its demand for a six-lane highway.

Tragic Accidents Continue on NH-719; Congress Reiterates Six-Lane Demand
Bhind-Gwalior National Highway (NH)-719 has witnessed another fatal road accident near Gohad, leading to the untimely deaths of several individuals. The District Congress Committee (Rural) has raised serious questions about the functioning of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government following this incident.
Describing the event not merely as an accident, Congress termed it as 'the pain of homes extinguished repeatedly and families shattered'. According to the party, innocent lives are being lost daily on NH-719, yet the government has failed to take effective steps to address this grave issue.
District Congress Committee (Rural) President Ram Sesh Baghel stated that Congress, along with the saintly community and other social organizations, has consistently demanded the highway be made safer and widened to six lanes. Several protests have been organized concerning the road widening, but the government has only offered assurances without concrete action.
He emphasized that since the public is being charged tolls for using the road, it is the moral and legal responsibility of the government and concerned agencies to provide the public with a safe road and a better traffic management system.
Baghel sharply questioned, "After how many more deaths will NH-719 be addressed?"
Demand for Safety and Widening Stressed
The Rural Congress President, Ram Sesh Baghel, described the issue as a matter of humanity and public safety, transcending politics. He highlighted that every life is precious and every family's happiness is invaluable.
He urged the government to conduct an immediate, thorough review of the safety arrangements on NH-719 and to take concrete and effective steps towards its conversion into a six-lane highway. Baghel warned the BJP government that if prompt and substantial action is not taken in this matter, the District Congress will launch a massive public agitation.
He clarified that the entire responsibility for this public movement would lie with the administration. He paid tribute to all those who lost their lives in the accident and expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families. He also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
