Netflix's recently released military drama, 'Operation Safed', has garnered significant praise from viewers since its premiere on August 7. The six-part series, which delves into the Indian Air Force's pivotal role during the 1999 Kargil War, has been lauded for its performances, storytelling, and visual effects.

However, beyond the critical acclaim for its historical portrayal, a deeply personal element has resonated with the audience: a special dedication at the end of each episode to the late comedian Raju Srivastava. This tribute is a direct acknowledgment of Srivastava's profound impact on the series' creator, Kushal Srivastava.

A Personal Connection to Filmmaking

Kushal Srivastava, who served seven years in the Indian Air Force before transitioning to filmmaking, shared that Raju Srivastava was more than just a beloved comedian and family member. He was a significant guiding force in Kushal's nascent career aspirations.

Growing up, Kushal frequently visited his uncle Raju on film sets. These early experiences provided him with an invaluable, firsthand insight into the world of storytelling and ignited his passion for cinema. The creative environment he witnessed sparked his ambition to pursue filmmaking.

From Air Force to Storytelling

In a conversation with Aaj Tak, Kushal recalled a pivotal moment from his youth. He recounted telling his uncle Raju about his desire to achieve widespread recognition, to have his name known globally.

“Years ago when I told my chacha that I want to do something so that the whole world knows my name, he joked that I should install hand-pumps everywhere with my name on them."

However, upon realizing the seriousness of Kushal's aspirations to enter the film industry, Raju Srivastava actively supported his nephew's ambitions. This support extended to helping Kushal secure the necessary permission to leave the Indian Air Force, facilitating his transition into filmmaking.
