NEERI Team Assesses Bhopal's Environmental Initiatives
Members of the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) on Wednesday reviewed ongoing work in Bhopal under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) and Sustainable Waste Management initiatives. They were briefed on the innovations undertaken by the municipal corporation for air quality improvement and waste management.
The inspection team gained detailed insights into various NCAP initiatives aimed at improving air quality and providing citizens with a cleaner environment. At the corporation's headquarters, 'Atal Bhawan', officials presented information on ongoing efforts, innovations, the sustainable waste management model, and decentralized waste management to the NEERI members.
Focus on Waste Management and Modern Sanitation
The NEERI delegation visited the Anna Nagar Garbage Transfer Station to observe the process of waste segregation and other waste management procedures firsthand. They familiarized themselves with the corporation's operational methodology for waste management.
Furthermore, the team inspected a mechanized road sweeping EV vehicle used for street cleaning and learned about its operational capabilities. The delegation included Dr. Nitin Goyal, Senior Scientist from NEERI, Ms. Ranu Chouksey from the Central Pollution Control Board, and Mr. Nitish Chaurasia and Mr. Janendra Chandel from the Pollution Control Board. They also paid a courtesy call to the Municipal Commissioner, Mrs. Sanskruti Jain.
NEERI Members Express Satisfaction with Progress
Following the inspection, NEERI members expressed satisfaction with the work being undertaken by the municipal corporation under the National Clean Air Programme. They also commended the sustainable waste management model, recognizing its significance for the city's long-term environmental health.
The delegation described the corporation's efforts as a positive step towards reducing air pollution and maintaining the cleanliness of the city.
