Spiritual Tourism Circuit Launched for Neem Karoli Baba

The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has taken a significant step towards globally promoting the spiritual heritage of the revered saint Neem Karoli Baba. A new spiritual tourism circuit has been developed, integrating key sites associated with Baba's life and memories.

Under this initiative, the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation has also launched five special tour packages for devotees and tourists. Projects worth ₹12.93 crore are being implemented in Firozabad and Farrukhabad for infrastructure development, aiming to facilitate easier travel for Baba's followers.

Grand Development Underway at Birthplace and Ashram

Akbarpur village in Firozabad, believed to be Baba Neem Karoli's birthplace, is being developed as a major tourist destination. The first phase of the project has seen the construction of essential amenities at a cost of ₹8.65 crore.

Work is ongoing on a second phase project valued at ₹2.22 crore, with 60 percent of the work completed. This second phase is targeted for completion by December 2026. Additionally, a rural tourism project costing ₹55.44 lakh in Akbarpur is set to commence soon.

Meanwhile, a project worth ₹1.51 crore for the development of the Neem Karoli Ashram in Farrukhabad has been completed. This project included the construction of the ashram's main entrance and accommodation buildings, enhancing facilities for visitors.

Government Initiative to Promote Spiritual Tourism

Uttar Pradesh's Minister for Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh, stated that Neem Karoli Baba's Mahasamadhi Divas (death anniversary) is an occasion to honor a saint whose message of simplicity, service, and love continues to inspire globally. He emphasized that before 2017, the tourism potential of these significant spiritual sites had not received adequate attention.

The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is now not only focusing on preserving Baba's legacy but also contributing to the state's economic development by opening new avenues for spiritual tourism.

The Minister further elaborated that modern infrastructure is being built in Akbarpur for tourist amenities. This includes a multipurpose auditorium, a cultural block, and a special exhibition hall dedicated to Baba's life. A dining hall, a cafeteria with a capacity for 50 people, and a dormitory with accommodation for 60 people have also been constructed.

Key Sites Included in the New Tour Circuit

The new spiritual circuit incorporates several important sites, including the Samadhi Mandir in Vrindavan, Akbarpur in Firozabad, the Ashram in Farrukhabad, and the Hanuman Setu Temple in Lucknow. It is believed that Baba Neem Karoli performed intense penance for 12 years in the underground cave of the Farrukhabad ashram.

These significant locations have been developed into a systematic and accessible tourist route. Tourists can visit these sites through five special tour packages operated by the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation from Delhi and Lucknow. Interested individuals can obtain more information through the department's official website or helpline number.

Director General of Tourism, Amrit Abhijat, highlighted the significance of this initiative, stating that this new circuit will add a crucial dimension to the state's spiritual tourism landscape. He expressed confidence that it will not only make the pilgrimage more convenient for devotees but also offer them a unique opportunity to closely experience and understand Neem Karoli Baba's rich cultural heritage.

This initiative, launched on the auspicious occasion of Mahasamadhi Divas, is expected to play a vital role in attracting national and international tourists, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a prominent spiritual tourism hub.
