Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government added a major push to its women-centric welfare agenda on Friday, with Chief Minister Mohan Yadav confirming the transfer of 1,836 crore rupees into the accounts of beneficiaries registered under the Ladli Behna Yojana.

The CM stated that by January 2026, the state expects cumulative disbursals under the scheme to cross 50,000 crore rupees, positioning it as one of India’s most financially significant direct benefit transfer programs targeted at women.

Ujjwala subsidy released alongside Ladli Behna installment

In addition to Ladli Behna payouts, the state also released over 90 crore rupees in subsidies for gas cylinder refills, supporting 29 lakh eligible women under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. Officials said this support aims to reduce the recurring cost burden on households using LPG for cooking.

The CM noted that the 32nd installment of Ladli Behna Yojana had now been credited to more than 1.25 crore women, calling it a sign of growing financial empowerment. According to him, when money reaches women, it is typically spent on the entire family’s welfare, from nutrition to education.

Policy focus: Women’s welfare and industrial development

CM Yadav said the state is gradually increasing the assistance amount under the Ladli Behna Yojana, underlining a long-term plan to improve financial inclusion and reduce gender-based economic vulnerability.

During the same visit, the CM highlighted industrial expansion efforts, stating that 1,000 acres at the Babai–Mohasa industrial area had already been allotted for industry, with an additional 400 acres being processed.

While in Sohagpur Assembly constituency, Yadav participated in bhoomi pujan and inaugurated projects worth 206 crore rupees, including a new circuit house at Makhan Nagar. He also paid tribute to Pt Makhanlal Chaturvedi, hoisted the national flag, and presided over ceremonial activities.

At the annual IPS Meet in Bhopal, the CM commended the state police for what he described as the complete elimination of Naxal presence in Madhya Pradesh. He said achieving this outcome was like completing an impossible task, pointing to internal security improvements in affected regions.
