Auction of Seized Vehicles Held at Nawabganj Police Station

In compliance with court orders from JM Nawabganj, a successful auction of 36 seized and case-related vehicles, which had been parked for a long time on the premises of the Nawabganj police station in Bareilly, has been completed. This auction process generated a total of Rs 1.58 lakh.

This initiative is a significant step towards freeing the police station from encroachment under 'Operation Clean'. It resolves a major issue of vehicle disposal at the Nawabganj station, where the presence of these vehicles was causing space constraints and disarray.

Auction Details and Participants

The auction included a total of 17 motorcycles, 16 e-rickshaws, and three four-wheeled vehicles. A special committee, formed under the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, managed the entire auction process.

The committee was responsible for ensuring that the auction was conducted in a fair and transparent manner. A total of 27 contractors participated in the auction, each having deposited a security amount of ₹1 lakh as per the stipulated rules. This security deposit was essential to ensure seriousness in the bidding process and allow only genuine bidders to participate.

Highest Bidder and Payment Terms

Following bids from various contractors, Tejram, a resident of Richhaula Kifayatullah, secured all 36 vehicles by placing the highest bid of ₹1,58,700. This amount represents the total proceeds from the auction, which will be deposited into the government treasury.

Upon completion of the auction process, the successful contractor, Tejram, has been directed to take possession of these vehicles from the police station premises within the stipulated deadline. He must also ensure payment of 18 percent Goods and Services Tax (GST) in addition to the bid amount for the vehicles. This payment will augment the government's revenue.

Ensuring Transparency and Record Keeping

During this significant auction, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Circle Officer, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, and the Station House Officer were present to maintain law and order and ensure the fairness of the process. Their presence guaranteed transparency and accountability throughout the proceedings.

All necessary information related to the auction, including the bid amount, contractor details, and payment formalities, has been duly recorded in the police station's records and the 'Malkhana' register. This detailed record is crucial for future reference.

Objective of the Action

The primary objective of this action was to efficiently and effectively dispose of the accumulated vehicles at the police station premises, thereby making the area organized and clean. This aims to provide a better environment for police personnel to carry out their duties.
