Students Across Nation Protest Police Action, Demand Election Commissioner's Resignation

The Democratic Students Organisation (DSO) has called for nationwide demonstrations protesting the police action against democratic movements. In solidarity, students in Guna took to the streets to voice their anger and appeal to the government to fulfill several critical demands.

This protest was primarily organized against the suppression of civil movements in other parts of the country, including at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. DSO members loudly called for the immediate cancellation of the SIR process and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.

The protesting students stated that popular movements advocating for basic rights like education, employment, and voting are being crushed by the government machinery.

Allegations of Government Suppression on Popular Movements

Under the protest day declared by the DSO's All India Council, students in Guna held a joint rally. Shruti Shivhare and Narayan Singh Chandel, who led the demonstration, jointly stated that the democratic rights of the people in the country are being violated.

They specifically highlighted the heavy deployment of paramilitary forces and police in Delhi, noting that this has created a situation akin to an undeclared emergency against the public. The student leaders strongly condemned the detention of DSO's Madhya Pradesh leadership, lawyers, students, and independent media personnel in Delhi.

They described this as a direct attack on freedom of expression and vowed that their struggle would continue until democratic values are protected.

Warning and Future Strategy

The significant number of youths who came out onto the streets of Guna gave this protest a crucial dimension. The students warned the administration that if their demands are not addressed and the current oppressive attitude continues, the scope of future protests will be widened significantly.

During the demonstration, the local administration closely monitored the situation, while the students peacefully raised their voices.
