Nation's Anthem Echoes at Kisan Bhawan on Independence Day; Mandi Board Pledges Enhanced Farmer Welfare Efforts

National Flag Hoisted, Patriotism Soars at Kisan Bhawan

On the occasion of the nation's 80th Independence Day, August 15, 2026, the national flag was ceremoniously hoisted at the Madhya Pradesh State Agriculture Marketing Board's Kisan Bhawan headquarters in Bhopal. The event was imbued with patriotism, and all attending officers and employees collectively sang the national song 'Vande Mataram', expressing their unwavering devotion to the country.

Shri Kumar Purushottam, Managing Director-cum-Commissioner Mandi of the Mandi Board, inaugurated the Independence Day celebrations by hoisting the national flag. Following the flag hoisting, the assembled gathering collectively sang the national anthem, further intensifying the patriotic atmosphere.

Pledge for Farmer Welfare and Development

In his address, Managing Director Shri Kumar Purushottam extended warm Independence Day wishes to all farmers, traders, laborers, weighmen, and other stakeholders associated with the mandis, as well as all officers and employees of the Mandi Board and Mandi Committees. He emphasized that the agricultural sector is a strong pillar not only of the state's economy but also of rural development.

“Ensuring fair prices for the produce grown by farmers through their hard work and providing them with better mandi facilities is the paramount responsibility of the Mandi Board,” he stated.

Farmer Interests Paramount: Emphasis on Transparency and Technology

Shri Purushottam urged all officers and employees to make the welfare of farmers their top priority. He stressed the importance of performing their duties with loyalty, honesty, and dedication.

The Managing Director highlighted that by incorporating transparency, modern technology, and effective management into the mandi system, even more advanced and convenient facilities can be provided to farmers. This will be a significant step towards empowering farmers and increasing their income. He also mentioned that all major and sub-mandis in the state are currently operating under the e-Mandi scheme, which is bringing transparency and ease to mandi-related processes for farmers.

Grading Units to Ensure Better Prices for Farmers

The Mandi Board is taking ambitious steps to ensure better prices for farmers for their agricultural produce. Shri Purushottam announced that state-of-the-art grading units will be established in various mandi committees across the state in the coming time.

This initiative will ensure that prices are determined based on the quality of agricultural produce, allowing farmers to receive better value for their high-quality crops. This is expected to encourage quality agricultural production and significantly boost farmers' incomes.

Environmental Conservation: A Commitment to Greening Through Tree Plantation

As an integral part of the Independence Day celebrations, the importance of environmental conservation was also underscored. Shri Kumar Purushottam, along with Mandi Board officers and employees, participated in tree plantation at the Mandi Board premises.

This event not only symbolized a commitment to making the environment greener but also demonstrated dedication to the protection and nurture of the planted saplings, showcasing environmental sensitivity and social responsibility.

The distinguished ceremony was attended by Shri Anurag Saxena, Additional Managing Director of the Mandi Board, who also inspired the officers and employees with his address, urging them to dedicate their services with loyalty, honesty, and diligence. Ms. Sangeeta Dhoke, Additional Director, Shri Aman Pastore, Additional Director, Mrs. Savita Jhania (IAS), Joint Director, Shri Nitin Kolhe, Joint Director, Shri Madhukar Pawar, Superintending Engineer, Shri Sanjay Singh Thakur, and a large number of senior officers and employees of the Mandi Board were present. This event further strengthened the respect for the tricolor, the spirit of patriotism, and the collective resolve to work excellently for farmer welfare.
