National Sports Day Commemorated at Pioneer Public School

Balrampur city's English medium institution, Pioneer Public School and College, vibrantly celebrated the birth anniversary of the legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand as National Sports Day on Friday. The occasion was marked with enthusiasm and a series of commemorative activities.

The event commenced with the School's Managing Director Dr. M.P. Tiwari, Manager Er. Akash Tiwari, Director Prakriti Tiwari, and Vice-Principal Shikha Pandey paying floral tribute and lighting a lamp before a portrait of Major Dhyan Chand. Following this, the Managing Director addressed the students, elaborating on Major Dhyan Chand's life and his significant contributions to the world of sports.

He informed the students that Major Dhyan Chand was born on August 29, 1905, in Allahabad, and his birthday is declared as India's National Sports Day. It is on this day that players who have excelled in sports are honored with national awards. The Indian Olympic Association had also declared him 'Player of the Century'. His exceptional command of hockey and understanding of the game's nuances earned him the title 'The Wizard of Hockey'.

The Managing Director also recalled that the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, had previously renamed the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award to the 'Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award' in his honor. The school also saw the inauguration of hockey activities and a competition, led by the Managing Director and overseen by team coach Amit Rana, on the school grounds. An exciting hockey match was played between two school teams, showcasing the students' talent.

Prominent players who participated in the competition included Ansh Srivastava (Captain), Vivek, Nishant Shukla, Ansh Gautam, Om Gupta, Ankit Chaudhary, Devesh Singh, Devansh Singh, Rajan Kashyap, Sumit Mishra, and Prakash Dhar Dubey. The supporting team comprised Mahesh Shukla, Harsh Singh, Hemant Rawat, Aryan Singh, Saksham Soni, Prince Tiwari, Aditya Pal, and Anmol Singh.

Diverse Sports, Speeches, and Cultural Programs

In addition to the hockey tournament, the school organized various other sports competitions, speech events, and cultural presentations to mark National Sports Day. The sports activities included a zig-zag race for the pre-primary section and a running race for the primary section, both of which saw enthusiastic participation from students.

In the speech competition, Shivansh Het, Prathmesh Tiwari, Pragya Pandey, Mohini Jaiswal, and Kartik Srivastava shared their thoughts on Major Dhyan Chand and the spirit of sportsmanship. A captivating dance performance based on the song 'Chak De India' was presented by Aradhya, Simr, Shreyasi, Subhiksha, and Himanshi, which enthralled the audience.

On this occasion, the school's Managing Director congratulated all participants, encouraging them and extending best wishes. The successful organization of the event was also facilitated by the contributions of Poonam Chauhan, Lata Srivastava, Ruby Tripathi, Kiran Mishra, Urvashi Shukla, Ritu Srivastava, Akanksha Mishra, Jaya Shukla, Sachi Singh, Resu Tiwari, Umesh Tiwari, Abhishek Jaiswal, and Vijay Shankar.
