Sanitation Workers Trained in 'Adopt Cleanliness, Dispel Disease' Campaign

Narsinghgarh Municipality Council has taken a significant step towards making the city clean, healthy, and disease-free under the 'Swachh Bharat Mission Urban' and 'Swachh Survekshan 2025-26' initiative. As part of this, a 'Cleanliness School' workshop was organized on Saturday under the 'Adopt Cleanliness, Dispel Disease' campaign, providing detailed information to the city's sanitation workers on cleanliness, health safety, and workplace precautions.

Addressing the sanitation workers at the municipality premises, Municipality Chairperson Smt. Kavita Lokendra Verma stated that their role in keeping the city clean and beautiful is extremely important. She acknowledged their tireless efforts in improving the city's sanitation system, emphasizing that their safety and health are the municipality's top priority.

Safety and PPE Use Mandated During Monsoon

Chairperson Verma specifically stressed the precautions to be taken during sanitation work, especially during the monsoon season. She urged all sanitation workers to mandatorily use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during their work.

The Chairperson issued clear instructions that no employee should report for sanitation duty without safety equipment. She believes that working safely will not only protect the employees' health but also contribute to making the overall sanitation system more effective. PPE kits include gloves, masks, safety goggles, and other necessary materials that protect sanitation workers from potential hazards.

The regular and correct use of these devices also helps prevent the spread of infectious diseases, which is a major concern, particularly during the rainy season. The Municipality Chairperson also highlighted that individual safety is the first step towards collective cleanliness.

Continuous Efforts for Swachh Survekshan 2025-26

Mr. Abhishek Jain, Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) of the municipality, also provided essential guidelines to the staff regarding the sanitation system. He informed that the municipality is making continuous efforts to improve the city's ranking in 'Swachh Survekshan 2025-26'.

Regular awareness programs are being organized to strengthen the city's sanitation system, waste management, and citizens' active participation. CMO Jain also emphasized that Swachh Survekshan values not only physical cleanliness but also citizen awareness and participation. This is why the municipality is striving to make people aware of cleanliness through various mediums, including initiatives like waste segregation at home, using dustbins in public places, and reducing plastic usage.

Training and Awareness by Aadhar Foundation

The team from the municipality's partner organization, 'Aadhar Foundation', actively participated in this workshop. Foundation members provided valuable information to the sanitation workers on waste segregation, the importance of cleanliness, and various workplace safety measures.

They highlighted that separating wet and dry waste is essential not only for environmental protection but also lays the foundation for a better and more efficient waste management system. Experts from Aadhar Foundation also familiarized sanitation workers with modern waste management techniques, explaining how waste can be converted into useful products through composting and recycling.

Emphasis on Citizen Participation

Additionally, a special 'Cleanliness School' meeting was held at Narsinghgarh's Nehru Reading Room, primarily aimed at raising citizen awareness about cleanliness. Attendees were urged to actively cooperate in keeping their homes and surrounding areas clean and to play their crucial role in maintaining the city's sanitation ranking.

To encourage citizen participation, the municipality has launched several programs, including campaigns like 'One Day, One Hour, For Cleanliness,' where volunteers contribute to city cleaning. Students from schools and colleges are also being involved in sanitation awareness campaigns to foster a sense of responsibility from an early age.

Special Cleanliness Drive at Jal Mandir Ghat

As part of efforts to promote city cleanliness, a special cleaning drive was conducted by sanitation workers at Narsinghgarh's Jal Mandir Ghat. The ghat premises were thoroughly cleaned, and attendees were educated on the importance of maintaining cleanliness.

The municipality underscored that maintaining the cleanliness of religious and public places is a collective responsibility of all citizens. Keeping places like Jal Mandir Ghat clean is especially important as they attract a large number of visitors and regular cleaning is crucial for aesthetics and preventing the spread of infections. The municipality has appealed to local communities to actively participate in keeping these sites clean.

Continued Efforts for Swachh Survekshan

Municipality officials stated that awareness programs, training, and various types of cleaning drives will continue in the city to ensure better performance in 'Swachh Survekshan 2025-26'. These campaigns aim not only for superficial cleaning but also to develop clean habits among citizens and provide a healthy and safe environment for the city.

The workshop was attended by Sanitation Supervisor Ramgopal Billervan, Sanitation Branch In-charge Devsingh Pal, Ward Headman Khemchand Karade, Mukesh Balmiki, and many other sanitation employees of the municipality. All collectively pledged to bring the city to the top position in the cleanliness race and appealed to the general public to actively support the municipality's efforts.
