Grand Seventh Deepotsav at Baijnath Mahadev Temple

The revered Baba Baijnath Mahadev Temple in Narsinghgarh, Rajgarh district, hosted a spectacular seventh Deepotsav on Monday night, coinciding with Kajri Teej during the dark fortnight of Bhadon. The sacred event saw the temple's 156 steps adorned with a total of 5,500 diyas (lamps), bathing the entire complex in an ethereal glow.

A significant number of devotees, including a large contingent of women, participated enthusiastically, expressing their deep devotion to Lord Baijnath Mahadev by lighting lamps with profound faith. Preparations to arrange and light the lamps on the temple steps commenced from Monday evening.

As darkness deepened, the sight of the steps illuminated by thousands of lamps was breathtaking and majestic, offering a unique experience for the devotees. This visual spectacle created an unforgettable ambiance of spiritual fervor and communal harmony.

Growth of the Deepotsav Over Seven Years

The tradition of the Deepotsav at Baijnath Mahadev Temple has been consistently observed for the past seven years. The celebration began modestly with just 1,100 diyas and has progressively expanded over time.

Previous years witnessed a steady increase in the number of lamps used, with figures reaching 2,100, 3,100, 4,100, and 5,100. This year's illumination with 5,500 diyas marks a new record for the event.

The temple management and organizers have ambitious plans to make the Deepotsav even grander. They have set a target of lighting 11,000 diyas next year, aiming to enhance the festival's radiance and appeal.

A Confluence of Spirituality, Unity, and Identity

According to the organizers, the primary objective of this Deepotsav is to foster greater awareness about Hinduism and its ancient traditions. It also aims to strengthen unity, brotherhood, and religious faith within society.

This celebration of unwavering devotion and dedication to Lord Shiva has now become an integral part of Narsinghgarh's identity. It serves as a major draw for devotees, attracting a large number of people annually and standing as a vibrant symbol of faith and social connection.
