Narmadapuram Municipality Launches Major Anti-Encroachment Drive Amidst Heavy Rain

Civic Body Clears Roadside Encroachments in Narmadapuram

To streamline traffic and free up public spaces, the Narmadapuram Municipal Council carried out a significant anti-encroachment operation on Saturday. Despite heavy rainfall, bulldozers were deployed to remove structures along the roadside from Hariyali Chowk to Triti Medical in the Housing Board Colony.

The municipality's anti-encroachment team, assisted by police, dismantled over 10 temporary shops (known as 'tappus'). The operation was directly supervised by the Chief Municipal Officer (CMO), Vaibhav Deshmukh, who stressed strict adherence to rules.

Addressing Long-Standing Complaints

The municipality had received numerous complaints regarding encroachments in the Housing Board area, citing obstructions to traffic and alleged illegal activities. Taking these concerns seriously, the council initiated this large-scale clearing drive.

Even with continuous rain, municipal workers persisted, using a JCB machine to demolish temporary structures on public land and roads. The presence of police ensured the smooth and peaceful completion of the drive.

CMO's Direct Supervision Highlights Seriousness of Action

The personal presence of CMO Vaibhav Deshmukh underscored the administration's commitment to the operation. He personally oversaw the process, instructing the team to show no leniency towards any encroachments, particularly those impeding traffic flow.

Deshmukh also emphasized the need to prevent the re-establishment of removed structures to avoid future issues. The drive aimed to restore order and ensure public spaces were accessible to all.

Reasons and Process Behind Encroachment Removal

Sheikh Sikandar, head of the anti-encroachment team, explained that persistent complaints from the Housing Board Colony, Hariyali Chowk, and Triti Medical areas prompted the action. Businesses were operating illegally from roadside stalls, with some complaints alleging illicit activities emanating from these stalls.

Following directives from senior officials, the operation commenced, resulting in the removal of approximately 10 'tappus' with the help of a JCB machine. Police support was crucial in preventing any untoward incidents.

Stern Warning Issued for Future Encroachments

Other vendors and encroachers present were strictly warned against any future attempts to occupy public spaces. Officials made it clear that any recurrence would lead to legal action against the offenders.

The municipality stated that such anti-encroachment drives will continue regularly to improve traffic conditions and maintain order in public areas. The cleared areas were notably free of encroachments after the operation.

Personnel Involved in the Operation

The significant drive, conducted amidst the rain, included Encroachment Team In-charge Sheikh Sikandar, ARI Brajesh Sarwan, Kailash Kanojia, Satish Raghuwanshi, Ritik Sharma, Sumit, Anil, and several other municipal employees. The operation was successfully executed with the cooperation of the police department.
