Narmadapuram Excise Department Intensifies Campaign Against Illegal Liquor

The Cliff News | Narmadapuram | September 25, 2026 The Excise Department in Narmadapuram district has launched a special campaign to curb the manufacturing, transportation, and sale of illicit liquor. Acting on the directives of Collector Somesh Mishra, various departmental teams have conducted raids across different zones within the district, executing a widespread operation.

During this extensive drive, officials seized a significant quantity of illegal liquor and 'lahan' (fermented mash used in liquor production). Consequently, legal action has been initiated against several individuals involved in these unlawful activities.

Significant Seizures Made During Operation

In a coordinated effort, the Excise Department teams confiscated a total of 55 liters of country liquor, 3.6 liters of country liquor, and 12.6 liters of foreign liquor. Additionally, 510 kilograms of 'lahan' were seized from the spot and subsequently destroyed according to established procedures.

The estimated market value of the total seized material has been assessed at Rs 76,500.

13 Cases Registered Against Illicit Liquor Activities

A total of 13 cases have been registered under the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act against individuals found involved in activities related to illicit liquor. District Excise Officer Rajiv Dwivedi stated that the campaign against illegal liquor will continue relentlessly.

He issued a clear warning that stringent legal action will be taken in the future against anyone found involved in the illegal manufacturing, sale, and transportation of liquor within the district.

The department's teams are maintaining continuous surveillance across various parts of the district to effectively put a check on such illicit activities. The local administration views this action as a crucial step towards eradicating the illegal liquor trade and ensuring law and order in the district.

This decisive action by the department has sent a wave of concern through the illicit liquor mafia, creating a state of alarm among their ranks.
