Administration Launches Major Operation Against Illegal Liquor in Narmadapuram, Seizes 150 Kg of Fermented Mash

Narmadapuram | September 26, 2026 The district administration and excise department in Narmadapuram have conducted a stringent campaign against the manufacturing and sale of illicit liquor in the areas along the banks of the Narmada River. This joint operation involved raids on suspected locations within a five-kilometer sensitive radius of the Narmada River, resulting in the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit liquor and raw materials (fermented mash).

This action is part of the administration's efforts to curb the illegal liquor trade in the region and ensure public safety. The special campaign was carried out under the clear directives of Collector Somesh Mishra and the active guidance of District Excise Officer Dr. Rajiv Prasad Dwivedi. The excise department team specifically conducted intensive searches at suspected sites in sensitive areas like Balaganj, Malakhedi, Ginny Compound, Bengali Colony Siklikar, BT I Madarwada, Pichin Ghat, and Seth Guru Prasad School, which are often associated with complaints of illegal liquor production and sale.

Intensive Raids Yield Significant Seizures Along Narmada Banks

During this extensive search operation, administration teams raided multiple suspected locations. The primary objective was to seize the raw materials (fermented mash) used in the production of illicit liquor, as well as the finished products. Officials discovered a substantial amount of illicit material on-site, including 45 quarters of plain country liquor, 40 bulk liters of raw country liquor, and 150 kilograms of fermented mash. The estimated market value of the seized materials is approximately ₹27,000, highlighting the scale of the illegal liquor trade.

Five Cases Registered Under Madhya Pradesh Excise Act

The swift and effective action by the administration has caused disarray among those involved in the illegal liquor trade in the region. Law enforcement agencies have reiterated their commitment to combating the production, storage, and sale of illicit liquor. In connection with this operation, a total of five separate cases have been registered under Section 34(1)(a) of the Madhya Pradesh Excise Act, 1915. The registration of these cases will tighten the legal grip on illegal liquor traders and bring them to justice.

District Excise Officer Dr. Rajiv Prasad Dwivedi clarified that this special campaign to keep the Narmada banks free from any illegal activities, especially the illicit liquor trade, will continue with the same intensity in the future. He assured that the department would take immediate action on any information regarding suspicious activities and adopt similar strict legal procedures. This assurance of continuous monitoring and action will strengthen the sense of security among local residents.

Coordinated Role of Police and Excise Department in Joint Operation

The police department, alongside the excise department, played an active and crucial role in this entire joint operation. In this combined effort, Assistant District Excise Officer Abhilash Pathak, Sub-Inspectors R.P. Nimoda and Hitesh Bisoria, Chief Constables Durga Prasad Manjhi and Rajesh Gaur, along with other constables from the excise and police departments, demonstrated excellent team spirit and dedication. The success of this intensive campaign was a result of the collective efforts of all these officers and personnel.

The district administration is continuously monitoring and patrolling to maintain peace and law and order in the region. Such actions not only curb the illegal liquor trade but also enhance the sense of security among the general public. The administration has appealed to the public to immediately report any suspicious activity to the concerned department so that necessary steps can be taken in a timely manner.
