Narela Raksha Bandhan Festival: 29,000 Sisters Tie Rakhi to Minister Sarang on Third Day

Thousands of Sisters Express Affection at Narela Raksha Bandhan Festival

The third day of the Narela Raksha Bandhan Festival-2026, held in Bhopal, saw 29,179 sisters tie rakhis to Cooperation, Sports, and Youth Welfare Minister Shri Vishwas Kailash Sarang. The festival, organized in Wards No. 59 and 76, was marked by a grand welcome for Minister Sarang by local citizens and workers.

Minister Sarang reciprocated the warm reception by showering flower petals on the attending sisters. A significant number of GenZ sisters from Ward No. 59 also expressed their affection by tying raksha sutras to Minister Sarang, who in turn accepted each rakhi and sought their blessings.

"Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival, but a symbol of the unbreakable bond of affection and trust between a brother and sister," Minister Sarang stated, calling the festival a vibrant celebration of this cherished relationship.

GenZ Participation Highlights Festival's Enduring Spirit

The Narela Raksha Bandhan Festival continues to be a symbol of strengthening brother-sister relationships. On the third day, GenZ sisters played a prominent role, tying rakhis to Minister Vishwas Sarang and bestowing their blessings. This tradition, which began in 2009, has continued uninterrupted due to the unwavering affection and trust of the sisters.

Minister Sarang considers the Narela constituency not just an administrative area, but a family. He emphasized that the trust and affection shown by the sisters of this family, who consider him their brother, are his greatest assets. On the second day of the festival, 36,854 sisters had tied rakhis to Minister Sarang. Last year, in 2025, a record 184,632 sisters tied rakhis to him.

Given the increasing enthusiasm and participation this year, there is a strong possibility of surpassing last year's record. The festival is now in its 15th year.

Upcoming Events at the Festival

Further events as part of the Narela Raksha Bandhan Festival are scheduled for September 5, 2026. A program will be held in Ward No. 71 at 2:00 PM, followed by another in Ward No. 79 at 4:00 PM. Thousands of sisters are expected to tie raksha sutras to Minister Shri Vishwas Sarang at these upcoming gatherings.
