Traffic Gridlock at NanaKhedi Mandi Amidst Record Corn Yield

Guna | October 22, 2026: As the Rabi season kicks off, Guna's NanaKhedi agricultural produce market is witnessing an unprecedented influx of corn. The sheer volume of tractors and trolleys laden with produce has overwhelmed the market premises and surrounding areas, leading to a complete breakdown of traffic management.

On Thursday morning, long queues of vehicles formed at the mandi gates, severely impacting traffic on the main Umri Road. The congestion, originating from within the market, stretched all the way to Umri Road, causing hours of disruption to vehicular movement. Both heavy goods vehicles and two- and four-wheelers faced significant inconvenience.

Commuters Stranded Amidst Market Chaos

Commuters heading to their destinations, particularly in the morning, faced considerable hardship. School children and office-bound employees were among those stuck in traffic for extended periods, highlighting the widespread impact of the gridlock. The situation created significant difficulties for daily commuters.

Public Outcry Over Administrative Preparedness

Local residents and commuters have voiced strong criticism of the administration's preparedness for the peak season of corn arrivals. They argue that the market management and traffic police should have made adequate arrangements in advance, given the predictable surge in produce.

Citizens also believe that deploying police personnel at the mandi gates in a timely manner could have prevented such severe traffic jams on a major city road. Residents of the area are urging the administration to take immediate and effective steps to streamline traffic in the mandi zone.

They have called for robust planning to avoid future disruptions, ensuring a smoother selling process for farmers and minimizing traffic woes for the general public.
