In a thrilling first semi-final, Namibia recovered from a precarious 41/4 in the fifth over thanks to an explosive 88-run partnership in just 7.4 overs between JJ Smit and Gerhard Erasmus.
Erasmus displayed his trademark composure, scoring 55 off 41 balls, while Smit wowed the crowd with 61 not out from 43 balls, including four towering sixes, prompting chants of “Smit can hit!”
Smit then turned his attention to the ball, delivering a stellar performance by taking 3/16 in four overs, dismissing three of Tanzania’s top five and stifling their chase.
With this win, Namibia have now reached the semi-finals of four consecutive Men’s T20 World Cups, aiming to replicate their Super 12 success from 2021.
