The Bhopal Municipal Corporation has intensified its cleanliness campaign, imposing immediate spot fines on 35 individuals for various violations contributing to littering and pollution. The collected fines amount to a total of ₹13,700, demonstrating the corporation's commitment to maintaining city hygiene.
Surveillance and Enforcement Measures
Corporation teams are maintaining a close watch on individuals discarding waste, construction and demolition (C&D) debris in public spaces, engaging in property defacement, and using single-use plastics. As per the directives of Municipal Commissioner Mrs. Sanskruti Jain, the health department is conducting regular inspections and monitoring to enhance sanitation systems.
Enforcement Actions Across Zones
In one instance, the team from Zone No. 12 investigated garbage dumped on the road near Chittod Complex in Ward No. 43. Based on documents found in the refuse, a fine of ₹1,000 was levied on the responsible agency.
- Zone No. 14 collected ₹5,000 in spot fines for two cases of construction material dumping in public areas.
- An additional ₹3,900 was collected for 15 cases of general littering.
- Five cases of spitting in public spaces resulted in fines totaling ₹500.
- Nine individuals caught using single-use plastic were fined ₹900.
- In Zone No. 15, a fine of ₹500 was imposed for brick kiln operation and another ₹900 for single-use plastic usage.
- A school operator in Ward No. 54 near R.R.L. Chowk was fined ₹1,000 for property defacement by displaying banners and posters in public spaces.
This enforcement action underscores the Municipal Corporation's seriousness in upholding cleanliness standards and protecting public property. Similar strict measures are expected to continue to ensure citizens adhere to regulations and keep the city clean.
