Bhopal | September 9, 2026 | In a major crackdown against the manufacturing, trafficking, and illegal possession of firearms, the Madhya Pradesh Police have achieved significant success over the past two weeks. This operation, driven by police vigilance, swift action, and a robust intelligence network, has led to the seizure of 48 illegal firearms, live rounds, empty cartridges, weapon manufacturing tools, and vehicles across various districts of the state.

As a result of these operations, 29 individuals have been arrested so far. The police are conducting intensive interrogations of the arrested accused to uncover the sources of these illegal weapons and their associated networks. Districts including Chhatarpur, Khargone, Gwalior, Indore, and Morena have reported special successes during this campaign.

District-Wise Operations Uncovered Illegal Arms Networks

In Khargone, the Bistana police station, acting on a tip, seized 10 illegal country-made pistols near a canal in Gram Signoor. The estimated value of these weapons is approximately ₹2.5 lakh. Tools used in firearm manufacturing, such as grinders, pliers, vices, screwdrivers, and hammers, were also recovered. Interrogation revealed that the arrested accused had 11 previous cases registered under the Arms Act.

Furthermore, in a separate action against the trafficking/transportation of illegal weapons, Khargone police arrested another accused and seized 10 illegal pistols and a motorcycle. Combined, the Khargone police have confiscated a total of 20 illegal pistols in these two operations.

'Operation Eagle' Targets Social Media Weapon Display in Gwalior

Under 'Operation Eagle', Gwalior police initiated a comprehensive crackdown against individuals displaying weapons on social media. Fifteen accused/juvenile offenders were taken into custody from various police station areas in the district. This operation resulted in the recovery of 14 country-made pistols of 315 bore, 15 live rounds, one empty cartridge, and one 32 bore pistol with 5 live rounds.

The operations were conducted across Maharajpura, Murar, Panihar, Utila, Dabra Dehat, Purani Chhawani, Gola Ka Mandir, Jhansi Road, Sirol, Hajira, Bijoli, Kampu, and Thathipur police station areas. Additionally, police from Inderganj, Gola Ka Mandir, Maharajpura, and Dabra City apprehended four accused in separate actions, from whom 4 illegal country-made pistols/pistols and live rounds were recovered.

Chhatarpur Police Dismantle Two Illegal Weapon Manufacturing Units

In Chhatarpur, the Lavkushnagar police station, acting on intelligence regarding illegal arms manufacturing in Gram Kishanpura, busted two factories. Two inter-state accused, including a manufacturer and a seller, were arrested. A large cache of weapon manufacturing equipment, including country-made pistols of 315 bore and 12 bore, semi-finished weapons, molds, and barrels, were seized from both locations.

Initial interrogations revealed that the accused were involved in manufacturing and selling illegal firearms in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. One of the arrested individuals had two prior cases registered against him related to illegal liquor.

Indore Crime Branch Seizes Weapons, Arrests Two Traffickers

The Crime Branch of Indore, in its campaign against the smuggling and transportation of illegal firearms, arrested two individuals. The accused were found in possession of 3 country-made pistols, 1 country-made katta, 4 live cartridges, and 1 scooter. The estimated value of the seized items is around ₹1 lakh.

Preliminary investigations indicate that both accused have previous criminal records. Police are questioning them to ascertain the supply chain and network of these illegal weapons.

Morena Police Apprehend Four in Connection with Firing Incident

In Morena, the Porsa police station arrested four wanted accused within 24 hours of a serious firing incident. The 3 country-made pistols of 315 bore used in the incident, along with a motorcycle, were seized from the accused. The estimated value of the seized items exceeds ₹2 lakh.
