MP Police Embrace Innovation: From Lock-ups to 'Energy Desk', A New Message of Security
The Madhya Pradesh Police are taking significant steps towards more sensitive, humane, reformative, and public-oriented policing, effectively realizing their core motto of 'Deshbhakti-Janseva' (Patriotism-Public Service). Innovative experiments are underway across various districts, aiming to strengthen the sense of security among citizens and highlight the police's humane approach towards children and vulnerable sections of society.
New initiatives launched in Barwani, Indore, and Shajapur districts are proving to be milestones in this direction. Through these efforts, the police are not only fulfilling their role in crime control and maintaining law and order but also integrating reform, sensitivity, dialogue, awareness, and security as integral parts of their work.
These endeavors are proving instrumental in strengthening the bond of trust between the police and the community, and enhancing the feeling of security.
Barwani: Motivation on Lock-up Walls and Improved Facilities
Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police Barwani, Mr. Padmavilochan Shukla, an effort is being made to transform the lock-ups in the district's police stations from mere holding areas for prisoners into centers for self-reflection and positive change.
Motivational messages promoting distance from crime, positive thinking, and positive life changes are inscribed through inspiring pictures and pictorial graphics on the lock-up walls. Inspirational stories of Maharshi Valmiki and Mahatma Buddha are presented through illustrations, attempting to make detained individuals realize that with the right guidance and self-reflection, they can bring about positive transformations in their lives.
Furthermore, special priority has been given to the convenience of women and children visiting police stations. 'Urja Mahila Help Desks' (Energy Women Help Desks) and 'Vatsalya Kaksh' (Affection Rooms) have been established in police stations, providing a comfortable and safe environment for women and children.
A separate feeding room has been arranged for lactating mothers, while a free sanitary pad vending machine is also available for women's convenience. Keeping small children in mind, comic books are kept in police stations, and a friendly environment is created for them, so that police stations do not become places of fear in their minds, but rather they perceive the police as a supportive and security-providing institution.
Indore: Teaching Children Security Through 'Self-Defense Bandhan'
The Indore Police are emphasizing the development of safe traffic behavior habits in young students from an early age through a unique safety awareness initiative called 'Self-Defense Bandhan' (Self-Defense Bond).
The various activities organized in collaboration with the traffic police aim to convey safety messages to approximately 2,000 students and 5,000 parents across 15 branches of Little Millennium School. At schools in MIG and Mahalakshmi Nagar, traffic police explained the importance of road safety to children in a simple and engaging manner.
This included safe road crossing, the use of zebra crossings, the importance of helmets and seat belts, and information about traffic signals and road signs. Children were also taught about 'Good Habits' and 'Bad Habits' related to road safety, so they not only stay safe themselves but also inspire their families to follow traffic rules.
Shajapur: Special Patrolling for Women's Security on Raksha Bandhan
In anticipation of the upcoming Raksha Bandhan festival, the Shajapur Police have launched special women's patrolling teams with the objective of further strengthening women's security and reinforcing law and order.
On the initiative of Superintendent of Police Mrs. Priyanka Shukla, approximately 25 women police officers and personnel have been deployed for special patrolling in key and sensitive areas of the city. The primary aim of this initiative is to ensure the safety of women in markets and public places, keep a close watch on anti-social elements, and further strengthen the sense of security among women and the general public.
Moving Towards Humane and Reformative Policing
Policing is not merely limited to curbing crime or maintaining law and order; it also encompasses important elements such as reform, sensitivity, dialogue, awareness, and security.
Innovations like motivating detained individuals towards a positive life in Barwani, teaching children safe traffic behavior in Indore, and prioritizing women's safety through special patrolling by women police personnel in Shajapur, demonstrate the changing work style of the Madhya Pradesh Police and its commitment to society.
Through these initiatives, the bridge of trust between the police and society is being further strengthened, and the core spirit of 'Deshbhakti-Janseva' is being infused with new energy.
