Kidnapping and Assault

A 13-year-old class 8 student was kidnapped and gang-raped in Madhya Pradesh's Maihar district. The incident occurred as she was returning home from school on Friday.

The girl's family reported her missing around 9 pm after she didn't return home. The school is located only about 100 metres from her residence.

Police Investigation and Rescue

Police registered a missing person's report at the Jukehi outpost and initiated a search. Teams focused on the area near the school.

 

"The girl is only 13 years old. Our teams were put on alert, and we started our search in areas near the school," stated Maihar city superintendent of police Mahendra Singh Chouhan.

 

The girl was recovered late at night after police found her in a room where she was held captive. The door had to be broken down to rescue her.

Accused Apprehended

Two men, identified as Sunny Kohli, 25, and Deepak Basor, 35, were arrested in connection with the crime. Deepak Basor is reportedly a habitual offender wanted in several cases.

According to the police, the accused lured the girl with promises before locking her in a room. They then took turns raping her.

 

"Both the accused, identified as Sunny Kohli, 25, and DeepakBasor, 35, were arrested. Deepak is a habitual offender and is wanted in several cases," said Chouhan.

 

Legal Protocols

The victim's identity has been withheld to protect her privacy, adhering to Supreme Court directives on cases related to sexual assault.
