MP Sharma Expresses Strong Opposition to Temple Land Commercialization

Bhopal | July 25, 2026

Bhopal MP Alok Sharma has registered a strong objection to the proposed plan to construct a shopping complex on the sacred land of the approximately 100-year-old Kamali Mata Temple, located in the heart of Bhopal.

Meeting Held with Religious Leaders and Community Representatives

To address this issue, Mr. Sharma convened a crucial meeting at the Collectorate office with various religious leaders, saints, and representatives from all communities. During this meeting, public sentiments were prominently conveyed to the administration.

“The Kamali Mata Temple is an integral part of Bhopal’s cultural and spiritual heritage. It is not just a place of worship but a center of deep faith for millions of devotees,” stated MP Alok Sharma. He emphasized that any commercial use of the temple land is unacceptable and that the faith of millions of devotees will not be compromised at any cost.

Sanctity of Religious Sites Paramount

Mr. Sharma underscored the administration's responsibility to maintain the sanctity and original form of the temple. He cautioned the administration that any attempt to construct a shopping complex or any other commercial structure on the temple land would be a direct affront to the religious sentiments of society.

Demands Made to Halt Commercial Construction

In this context, MP Alok Sharma has made a concrete demand to the administration: the process of any proposed commercial construction on the temple land must be halted with immediate effect. He also urged that the religious nature and sanctity of the Kamali Mata Temple be preserved as before, so that the faith of the devotees remains undisturbed.

Support from Religious Leaders and Community

The religious leaders and representatives of various social organizations present at the meeting strongly supported the MP’s stance. They unanimously declared that the Kamali Mata Temple is a symbol of public faith and that its sacred land will not be tolerated for commercial use under any circumstances.

All representatives present appealed to the administration to respect public sentiments and ensure the safety and preservation of the temple. MP Alok Sharma expressed confidence that the administration would make a fair and just decision, respecting public sentiments. He hoped that the administration would take necessary steps to uphold the dignity and religious significance of the Kamali Mata Temple.
