Mother Care Hospital Sealed After Maternal Death Due to Lack of Records

Hospital Sealed Following Maternal Death

The health department in the district took strict action against Mother Care Hospital, located in Awas Vikas, by sealing it immediately on Friday. This action followed the death of a woman during childbirth at the facility.

A team, led by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Anand Upadhyay and nodal officer (registration) Dr. R.C. Mathur, conducted an surprise inspection of the hospital. During the inspection, no operator, doctor, or authorized representative was found present.

Lack of Records Prompts Action

The health department team requested all records pertaining to hospital registration, patient treatment, admission, delivery, referral, and the deceased patient's case. However, the hospital management was unable to provide any necessary documentation.

Furthermore, the maintenance of treatment-related records within the hospital was found to be unsatisfactory. The team also directed that CCTV footage, videos, photographs, and other available evidence related to the patient's treatment be secured and provided for an impartial investigation.

Investigation Underway

A Maternal Death Audit has also been initiated to thoroughly review the actual causes of death and the treatment process. The health department, deeming the failure to provide essential records and cooperate with the investigation as a serious matter, decided to seal the hospital.

Following an in-depth examination of the related records, necessary departmental and legal actions have commenced. The Chief Medical Officer emphasized that negligence towards patient lives or disregard for health department rules will not be tolerated in the district.

Emphasis on Quality Healthcare

Dr. Anand Upadhyay stated that all private hospitals must adhere to registration conditions and properly maintain treatment records. Strict action will be taken against institutions found to be non-compliant or irregular.

The health department's aim is to provide safe, transparent, and quality healthcare services to the district's residents. The investigation into this case will be conducted impartially, and strict action will be ensured against those found guilty, as per regulations.
