Mother and Lover Arrested for Minor's Murder; Fear of Disgrace Motive

Shocking Discovery and Police Investigation

In a sensational case from the Lahar police station area of Bhind district, a decomposed body of a 6-year-old girl was found in a well near the village of Mehra Bujurg. Police have made a startling revelation: the perpetrator was not an outsider but the child's own mother and her lover.

The grim discovery came to light when Megh Singh Parihar, the Kotwar of Mehra Bujurg, informed the police about an unidentified body in a water-filled well belonging to Mohan Dohre. Upon arriving at the scene, police recovered the highly decomposed body, infested with maggots, suggesting it had been there for 5 to 7 days.

Identification and Forensic Evidence

Images of the body were circulated on social media for identification. Subsequently, a diatom test report confirmed that the child was murdered before her body was dumped into the well. Given the gravity of the case, a special investigation team was formed under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Verma, Additional Superintendent of Police Pradeep Patel, and SDOPI Lahar Praveen Tripathi.

Technological Clues Lead to Arrests

The investigation, led by Lahar Station House Officer Deputy Superintendent of Police Shiv Singh Yadav and Sub-Inspector Narendra Sharma, involved a thorough analysis of technical evidence, including Call Detail Records (CDR) and mobile tower locations. This analysis pointed towards the deceased's mother and her lover as prime suspects.

Police also noted the absence of any missing person report filed by the mother. The accused had been absconding since the child's disappearance, using random mobile phones to contact family and evade location tracking. Their motive, police revealed, was the fear of public shame.

Confession and Brutal Details of the Crime

Acting on a reliable tip-off, the Lahar police team apprehended both suspects in Gwalior on August 15, 2026. Initially, they attempted to mislead the police, but under rigorous, separate questioning, they confessed to the crime. They revealed that on the night of July 6, 2026, the child insisted on going to her maternal grandfather's house in village Mehri.

Fearing the child would expose their illicit relationship and immoral activities to her grandfather and the village, leading to their disgrace, they decided to silence her. They took the child with them under the pretext of dropping her off. Around 9-10 PM, near Mohan Dohre's well in the vicinity of Pintoo Thakur's farm, the lover strangled the child while the mother held her limbs. After confirming the child had stopped breathing, they disposed of the body, along with her clothes and slippers, into the well and fled the village that same night.

Police Honored for Stellar Investigation

Following the confession, police inspected the crime scene based on the accused's directions and recorded the entire process on video. A case has been registered against the accused under sections 103(1), 238(B), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) as crime number 163/26. They were produced in court and remanded to judicial custody.

Superintendent of Police Suraj Kumar Verma highly commended the members of the Lahar police and Cyber Cell team for their exceptional work in cracking the case. This included Sub-Inspector Narendra Sharma, Sub-Inspector Munshi Lal Donger, Sub-Inspector Geeta Sikarwar, Cyber Cell In-charge Sub-Inspector Satyaveer Singh, and other constables. The SP announced a reward for the entire team for their outstanding performance.
