The monsoon has once again gained momentum in Madhya Pradesh, prompting a heavy rainfall alert for 22 districts, including the state capital Bhopal. The torrential rains that lashed down on Sunday night have brought a pleasant change in weather to many areas, offering significant relief from humidity and heat. The Meteorological Department predicts this spell of rain could continue for the next three days.

Following Sunday night's downpour, Bhopal is expected to experience cloudy skies and strong showers with thunderstorms throughout Monday. The increased monsoon activity is forecast to keep the maximum temperature around 29 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature between 23-24 degrees Celsius. While the rain cooled the atmosphere, it also caused waterlogging in several low-lying areas, inconveniencing motorists.

Heavy Rainfall Warning for 22 Districts

In light of the active weather system across the state, the Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rainfall warning for approximately 22 districts. The impact is anticipated to be more pronounced in the eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh. Districts like Dindori and Balaghat are expected to receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in some places.

Additionally, strong showers are anticipated in several other districts, including Jabalpur, Mandla, Seoni, Narsinghpur, Chhindwara, Pandhurna, Katni, Umaria, Shahdol, Anuppur, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Damoh, Sagar, Vidisha, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Betul, and Chhatarpur. This alert is particularly significant for farmers and water sources that are still facing a deficit in seasonal rainfall.

Rainfall Expected to Continue Until August 27

Based on current weather patterns, the rainfall activity in Madhya Pradesh is expected to persist until August 27. Between August 24 and August 27, strong showers accompanied by thunderstorms are likely in various parts of the state. While eastern Madhya Pradesh will experience a relatively higher impact, several areas in the western region may also receive good rainfall.

Intermittent rain is also expected in Bhopal, Vidisha, Raisen, and surrounding areas. Despite the delayed but active monsoon, the total rainfall in Madhya Pradesh this season remains significantly below the normal average. The current system, activated in the last week of August, offers hope for partially mitigating the rainfall deficit.

Monsoon a Boon for Kharif Crops Amid Drought Concerns

Several districts are still recording below-normal rainfall, making the upcoming showers a potential lifesaver for farmers.
