Mohanlal’s Mother Santhakumari Passes Away at 90 in Kochi

Veteran actor and Dadasaheb Phalke Award recipient Mohanlal mourns the passing of his mother, Santhakumari, who died on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at her residence in Elamakkara, Kochi, Kerala. She was 90 years old.

According to authorities, Santhakumari had been battling neurological disorders for some time and had received treatment at Amrita Hospital, where her condition was being monitored by medical professionals. Her passing was officially confirmed by the hospital doctors.

Mohanlal has often credited his mother for his personal and professional successes. Known for his deep affection, the actor frequently expressed his love for her in public speeches and on social media posts, highlighting the pivotal role she played in his life.

Santhakumari was married to the late bureaucrat Viswanathan Nair. The couple’s elder son, Pyarelal, passed away in 2000.

The cremation will be held on Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Mohanlal’s residence near Mudavanmugal, Thiruvananthapuram, with family and close associates expected to attend.
