Modi's Fifth Assam Visit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his fifth visit to poll-bound Assam since September 2025, addressed a public rally in Kokrajhar virtually from Guwahati.

Inclement weather prevented him from traveling to Kokrajhar. However, he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for several development and connectivity projects via video conferencing.

Accusations Against Congress

Addressing the gathering, in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Modi accused the Congress of supporting infiltrators at the expense of Assam’s indigenous communities.

 

"There is another big sin of the Congress which has become a very big threat to the security of the country and Assam. This has put the security of roti, beti and maati (bread, daughter and land) in danger,"

Land Rights and Encroachment

Modi expressed satisfaction with the state government's campaign against encroachment.

He noted the efforts to "reclaim land from illegal occupants" and provide legal land titles to original but landless inhabitants.

Districts at Risk

Modi stated that "The hand of the Congress has always been with the infiltrators and is there even today."

He added that the Congress did not give legal land rights to original inhabitants for decades and handed tribal land to infiltrators. The situation was especially terrible in districts like Dhubri and Goalpara, disturbing the population balance in Bodoland.

Dhubri and Goalpara are Muslim-majority districts.

Call to Action

He urged voters to "give the Congress the strictest punishment in the coming elections".

The aim is to send a message that there is "no place for infiltrators in the country".

Tea Garden Land Pattas

Later in Guwahati, Modi attended an event distributing land pattas to 28,241 tea garden families.
