A Paradigm Shift in Chili Farming
In the village of बींदाखेड़ी, within the बमोरी development block of Guna district, a progressive farmer named बबलू किरार has completely revamped his chili cultivation by adopting modern agricultural technologies. Moving away from traditional methods, he now employs scientific techniques to not only achieve high-quality yields but also to earn lakhs of rupees in profit per acre.
Officials Inspect Innovative Farm
Under the Chief Minister's Jan-Vishwas Abhiyan, Divisional Commissioner मनोज खत्री and Collector किशोर कुमार कन्याल made a surprise inspection of farmer बबलू किरार's fields on Friday. The officials gathered detailed information from the farmer regarding the crop rotation of chili, bell pepper, and marigold, as well as production costs and market prices.
Modern Techniques Drive Increased Income
Farmer बबलू किरार has been utilizing modern techniques on his farms for the past six years. Currently, he cultivates green chilies on two acres, bell peppers on two acres, and marigolds on four acres. He informed the officials that cultivating hybrid chilies with techniques like drip irrigation and mulching incurs a cost of approximately ₹1.5 lakh per acre.
With an average yield of 180 quintals per acre and a market price ranging from ₹35 to ₹40 per kilogram, the farmer is successfully achieving a net income of up to ₹5 lakh per acre after deducting costs. This demonstrates the significant financial benefits derived from adopting advanced farming practices.
Crop Diversification and Pest Management
बबलू किरार has embraced crop diversification, highlighting the cultivation of marigolds alongside chilies as a crucial aid for pest management. He believes this approach reduces dependence on a single crop, thereby significantly lowering farming risks. This strategy not only ensures financial security but also contributes to improving soil health.
An Inspiration for Fellow Farmers
Beyond his own innovative farming, बबलू किरार is now providing technical guidance on chili production to approximately 1000 acres of land cultivated by other farmers in the बमोरी region. He is also planning to prepare and sell chili saplings through a net house, ensuring local farmers have access to high-quality seedlings.
Collector किशोर कुमार कन्याल lauded farmer बबलू किरार's efforts, stating that farmers in the district are now moving away from traditional agriculture towards high-value horticultural crops. He emphasized that adopting techniques like drip irrigation, mulching, and scientific pest management makes higher yields possible in smaller areas. The model presented by बबलू किरार will undoubtedly serve as a source of inspiration for other farmers.
SDM शिवानी पांडे and senior officials from the Horticulture Department were also present during the inspection.
