Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a man and detained a juvenile for mobile theft at Farrukhabad Junction, recovering a stolen phone.

Mobile Thief Apprehended at Farrukhabad Junction; Juvenile Detained
Farrukhabad | August 31, 2026 | The Government Railway Police (GRP) has successfully apprehended an accused involved in mobile theft from passengers on platform number one of Farrukhabad Junction. The police have also taken a juvenile offender into their custody along with the arrested individual.
A stolen mobile phone was recovered from the possession of both individuals. A case has been registered against the arrested accused under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS), and further legal proceedings are underway. Simultaneously, action is being taken against the juvenile offender under the Juvenile Justice Act.
According to the GRP, on August 30, a police team was on routine patrol in the Farrukhabad Junction area. During this time, they were checking suspicious individuals with the aim of crime control and uncovering previous theft and snatching incidents. In this regard, an informant alerted the police that some suspicious individuals were seated on sleepers approximately 100 to 200 meters ahead of platform number one, along the railway tracks, and they might possess a stolen mobile phone.
Action Taken on Informant's Tip Leads to Recovery
Acting on the informant's tip, the GRP team immediately reached the location and set up a cordon. During the cordon, the police successfully arrested one accused. Meanwhile, his associate, a juvenile offender, was taken into police custody. Upon searching, a stolen mobile phone was recovered from both of them.
During interrogation, the arrested accused identified himself as Altaf, son of Ghafoor Khan, a resident of Mohalla Garhi Ashraf Ali, Thana Mau-Darwaza. The police have registered a case against him under relevant sections of the BNS. The arrested accused will be presented before the court.

The team that carried out this action included Inspector Dinesh Prakash Sharma, Sub-Inspector Devendra Singh, Head Constable Abhishek Kumar, Constable Surjeet Kumar, Constable Prince Yuvraj, and Sub-Inspector Arjun Kumar. GRP officials stated that the campaign against criminals involved in stealing mobile phones and other belongings of passengers on railway stations and trains will continue uninterrupted, ensuring a safe travel experience for passengers.
