Teachers Day Celebrated at MLK PG College, Balrampur
MLK PG College in Balrampur held a dignified Teacher's Day celebration on Friday, September 5, 2026, organized by the Commerce Department. The event, conducted under the guidance of Principal Prof. Janardan Prasad Pandey and chaired by Head of Department In-charge Dr. Pankaj Kumar Srivastava, saw students remembering the life and work of India's former President, Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan.
The program commenced with Vedic chants, a Saraswati Vandana, the lighting of lamps, and offering garlands to a portrait of Goddess Saraswati. Ishani Singh, Muskan Mishra, and Naincy Singh created a devotional atmosphere with their rendition of the Saraswati Vandana.
Remembering Dr. Radhakrishnan's Legacy
During his address, Head of Department In-charge Dr. Pankaj Kumar Srivastava elaborated on the exceptional personality and academic achievements of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. He read excerpts from Dr. Radhakrishnan's famous book on Indian philosophy, providing students with an opportunity to engage with the thoughts of the great thinker.
Dr. Srivastava also highlighted the importance of commerce studies in the current global landscape and informed students about various employment opportunities. The event underscored the significance of the teacher-student tradition in Indian thought, with Dr. K. K. Singh emphasizing the need to revive the Guru-Shishya parampara of the Upanishadic era and explaining the rationale behind Teacher's Day.
Engaging Activities and Conclusion
In addition to the commemorative sessions, students participated in debate competitions and other entertaining and informative contests. Teachers from the Commerce Department also sought feedback from students regarding their academic experiences during the event. The celebration concluded with the playing of the national anthem. Teachers Dr. P. N. Pathak, Dr. K. P. Mishra, and Dr. Abhay Nath Thakur were also present at the occasion.
