Rape Accused Arrested in Mirzapur

Mirzapur, August 31, 2026 – The Mirzapur district police have arrested an individual accused of raping a young woman after enticing her with a marriage proposal. The arrest was made by Padri police personnel in the vicinity of Shivlok Temple near Gram Kapsaur.

Police Action and Legal Proceedings

Acting on a tip-off received on August 31, 2026, the accused, Kishan, son of Rakesh, a resident of Gram Bhilgo, Padri police station, was apprehended. Following the incident's cognizance, Superintendent of Police Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, had directed the Station House Officer Padri, under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police City and Circle Officer Sadar, to ensure the accused's immediate arrest.

The complaint against the named accused was filed by the complainant on August 27, 2026. Based on this complaint, a case was registered at Padri police station under FIR No. 233/2026, invoking Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The investigation commenced immediately. The arrested accused, Kishan, was presented before the court after completing the necessary legal procedures, from where he was remanded to judicial custody.

Police Active in Drug Prevention

In a related operation, as part of a special campaign led by the Superintendent of Police Mirzapur to maintain law and order, curb crime, and apprehend proclaimed offenders, the Jigna police arrested a wanted accused, Doodhnath Singh alias Uday Bahadur Singh, son of late Danpal Singh, a resident of Gaura, Jigna police station. The arrest took place near Kushaha Tirahe on August 31, 2026, based on a tip-off. This action is part of the ongoing investigation into case number 91/2026 registered under the NDPS Act. The arrested accused has also been presented before the court and sent to jail.

Four Warrant Accused Apprehended

Further strengthening law and order in the district, as per the directives of Superintendent of Police Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, a comprehensive campaign resulted in the arrest of a total of 04 wanted individuals from various police stations across the district on August 31, 2026. These arrests include 01 from Kotwali City, 01 from Kotwali Dehat, 01 from Padri, and a total of 04 from Santnagar and Madhihan, bringing the total number of arrested warrant accused to 08. These individuals were also presented before the court according to legal procedures.

This ongoing police operation is a significant step towards controlling criminal activities and providing a secure environment for the public in the district.
