Mirzapur Police Crack Down on Crime, Arrest Four for Gambling; Minor Rape Accused Detained

In a significant operation to control crime and apprehend offenders, the police in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, have taken decisive action. Kotwali Dehat police arrested four individuals for gambling in a public place, while Kotwali Katra police detained a juvenile accused of raping a minor.

The actions were taken as per the directives of Superintendent of Police Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, who is spearheading a special campaign for crime prevention and offender apprehension across the district. This initiative aims to ensure a safer environment and maintain law and order.

Gamblers Apprehended in Jamunhian Village

Acting on a tip-off, the Kotwali Dehat police received information that some individuals were gambling with stakes in the village of Jamunhian. A police team, led by Sub-Inspector Madhusudan Rai, swiftly reached the location and apprehended four accused: Irfaan Gadhi, Sandeep Kumar Bind, Vinod Kumar Bind, and Ajay Kumar Bind.

During the operation, police recovered ₹2000 in cash from the gambling site and an additional ₹1400 during personal searches, totaling ₹3400. They also seized 52 playing cards. A case under Section 13 of the Public Gambling Act has been registered at Kotwali Dehat police station (Case No. 426/2026) for further legal proceedings.

Accused in Minor Rape Case in Custody

In a separate development, Kotwali Katra police have taken a juvenile accused into custody in connection with the rape of a minor. The case came to light on August 22, 2026, when a woman filed a written complaint against a named accused for allegedly luring away her minor daughter.

Based on this complaint, a case was registered at Kotwali Katra police station under Section 137(2) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) (Case No. 265/2026), and an investigation was initiated. Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik, taking serious note of the incident, ordered the arrest of the accused under the leadership of Additional Superintendent of Police City and Circle Officer City.

Following these directives, Kotwali Katra police, under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Rajesh Ram, conducted an investigation and, based on tip-off received today, September 3, 2026, apprehended the juvenile accused. The accused has been arrested under Sections 137(2), 65(1) of BNS and Sections 3/4(2) of the POCSO Act. He has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board.

Warrant Holder Arrested by Marihan Police

As part of the ongoing campaign against criminals in the district, Marihan police have also arrested a warrant holder. In compliance with the Superintendent of Police's orders, Marihan police apprehended the warrant holder today, September 3, 2026, and presented him in court. This arrest is also a significant step in the district's efforts to prevent crime and take effective action against offenders.
