Mirzapur Police Apprehend Four Suspects with 154 Bottles of Illicit English Liquor

Police Seize Illicit Liquor, Arrest Four Suspects

In a significant operation against illegal liquor, the police in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh have apprehended four smugglers. Acting on a tip-off, the Jammalpur police seized 154 pet bottles of 'After Dark Blue' illicit English liquor.

This action aligns with the directives issued by Mirzapur Superintendent of Police, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, for stringent measures against crime prevention and illegal liquor smuggling within the district. The operation was conducted by a joint team of Jammalpur police and the RPF, under the leadership of the Circle Officer, Chunar.

Suspects Identified, Liquor Recovered

The arrested individuals are reported to be from various districts of the state of Bihar. They have been identified as Nishant Kumar (25), Rohit Kumar (29), Sajan Kumar (24), and Pawan Kumar (29). A total of 27.72 liters of illicit English liquor, comprising 154 bottles of 180ml each, was recovered from their possession.

The identities of the arrested smugglers are: Nishant Kumar, son of Gopal Singh, residing at Sonar Lane, Rajendra Path, Kotwali Police Station, Gaya (Bihar); Rohit Kumar, son of Ravishankar Singh, residing in village Kaindi, Halsey Police Station (Bihar); Sajan Kumar, son of Basudev Pal, residing in village Sultanpur, Danaour Police Station (Bihar); and Pawan Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, residing in village Amar Pura, Naubatpur Police Station (Bihar). All suspects are reported to be between 24 and 29 years of age.

Legal Action Initiated

The recovery and arrest took place in the Jammalpur police station area. According to the police, the accused were intending to sell the liquor locally. The illicit alcohol has been seized, and a case has been registered against the arrested smugglers at Jammalpur police station under FIR No. 159/2026, invoking Section 60 of the Excise Act.

The successful apprehension and recovery operation involved significant cooperation from Sub-Inspector Jay Prakash Yadav and his team from Jammalpur police station, along with Sub-Inspector Manoj Kumar and his team from the RPF. All accused were presented before the court after completion of legal proceedings, where they have been remanded to judicial custody.

Mirzapur Police has reiterated its commitment to eradicating the illegal liquor trade in the district, assuring that no one involved will be spared and the crackdown will continue.
