Vindhyachal Police in Mirzapur district, Uttar Pradesh, have apprehended a man accused of kidnapping and coercing the victim into signing over land. This significant action, taken on September 5, 2026, addresses concerns regarding law and order in the district, prompting immediate directives from the Superintendent of Police.

The case surfaced on September 2, 2026, when the complainant, Niranjan Lal Gupta, a resident of Sadar Bazaar, Kotwali Road, lodged a written complaint naming several individuals. The complaint alleged that the accused kidnapped Gupta and, through threats and intimidation, forced him to execute a land deed.

Legal Action Initiated

Based on these serious allegations, a case (M.No.-249/2026) was registered at Vindhyachal Police Station under sections 308(2), 140(1), and 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) (or relevant BNS sections if specified), and an investigation commenced.

Police Superintendent Orders Swift Action

Given the gravity of the incident, Superintendent of Police Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, took immediate cognizance. She instructed the Additional Superintendent of Police (City) and Circle Officer (City) to ensure the prompt arrest of the accused involved.

Arrest Made Following Investigation

Following these directives, the police team intensified their investigation, collected evidence, and acted on intelligence. On September 5, 2026, Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar Mishra and his team, acting on information from an informant, successfully arrested the accused, Avneesh Mishra, son of the late Ramji Mishra.

Avneesh Mishra, a resident of Poorab Muhan, Vindhyachal Police Station, Mirzapur district, was taken into custody. Following legal procedures, the accused was presented in court and subsequently sent to jail.

Investigations have revealed that the arrested accused, Avneesh Mishra, has a prior criminal record. He has been implicated in several previous cases, including:

The arresting team consisted of Sub-Inspector Ajay Kumar Mishra and his police team from Vindhyachal Police Station, Mirzapur district. The police are continuing their investigation to identify any other individuals involved and to uncover the full truth of the matter.
