Mirzapur: Father-in-law, Husband, and Sister-in-law Arrested in Dowry Death Case

Dowry Death Case in Ahraura Police Station Area
Mirzapur: In a shocking incident within the Ahraura police station area of Mirzapur, the police have arrested three individuals in connection with a dowry death case. The arrested accused include the deceased's father-in-law, husband, and sister-in-law.
The arrests were made after the deceased's father filed a formal complaint, accusing the in-laws of harassing and ultimately murdering his daughter over dowry demands. The incident reportedly began on August 29, 2026, when Narad Bind, a resident of Hasanpur Kamharia village in the Baburi police station area of Chandauli district, submitted a written complaint to the Ahraura police station.
Formal Complaint and Legal Action Initiated
In his complaint, Bind alleged that his daughter was subjected to continuous harassment by her in-laws due to dowry demands, culminating in her death. Based on this complaint, a case (Mu.A.San. 179/2026) was registered at the Ahraura police station under sections 80(2) and 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 3/4 of the Prohibition of Dowry Act (DP Act). Investigations into the matter commenced immediately.
Swift Action Under Police Superintendent's Directives
The District Police Superintendent, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, treated this incident with utmost seriousness. Adhering to a policy of zero tolerance towards crimes against women, she issued strict orders for the immediate apprehension of the accused. The Station House Officer of Ahraura was directed to ensure swift and effective action in the case, under the leadership of the Superintendent of Police Operations and the Circle Officer Operations.
In compliance with the Superintendent's directives, the investigation into the aforementioned case registered at the Ahraura police station was expedited. On September 1, 2026, Sub-Inspector Sanjay Singh, acting on information received from an informant, led his police team to apprehend the three named accused in Dakahi village, Ahraura, Mirzapur.
Accused Arrested and Presented in Court
The arrested individuals have been identified as Kailash Bind (father-in-law), Ajay Kumar Bind (husband), and Rampati Devi (wife of Kailash Bind). Following their arrest, all necessary legal formalities were completed by the police. The accused were subsequently presented before the court and have been remanded to judicial custody.
The police are continuing their investigation to uncover all aspects of the case.
