Mirzapur DM Inspects Flood Outposts Amidst Potential Flood Alert

DM Reviews Flood Preparedness in Chunar Tehsil

In view of potential flood threats, Pawan Kumar Gangwar, District Magistrate of Mirzapur, conducted an on-site inspection of village Bagahi and its connecting roads in Chunar tehsil. He thoroughly reviewed the administration's preparedness for flood mitigation and issued necessary directives to the concerned officials.

The District Magistrate's visit aimed to ascertain the waterlogging situation in the area and the administration's readiness to address potential hazards. During the inspection, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Chunar informed the DM that a total of 13 flood outposts have been activated within the tehsil.

The District Magistrate emphasized that all necessary arrangements should be completed in a timely manner to prevent any inconvenience to the public in the event of an unforeseen situation. He also instructed that essential resources for relief and rescue operations in flood-affected areas be ensured in advance.

Focus on Relief Camps and Livestock Protection

The District Magistrate provided specific instructions regarding food arrangements at relief camps, stating that adequate food supplies for flood-affected individuals should be prepared beforehand. Furthermore, he directed that sufficient quantities of fodder for livestock be ensured.

He clarified that the safety of livestock is also among the administration's priorities during a flood situation. Understanding the importance of lighting during disaster management, the DM directed that lighting arrangements for relief and rescue operations be maintained properly. He also instructed that adequate torches, umbrellas, and other essential materials be made available.

Additionally, instructions were given to ensure the availability of boats in advance to transport people from flood-affected areas to safer locations.

No Complacency Allowed, Emphasis on Coordination

The District Magistrate sternly warned officials that any laxity in relief and rescue operations during a flood situation would not be tolerated. He urged all concerned departments to work in mutual coordination to complete flood preparedness measures.

He directed that the responsibilities of personnel deployed at flood outposts be clearly defined and that the availability of necessary resources at these outposts be regularly checked. The District Magistrate stated that the administration's primary objective is to minimize loss of life and property in the event of potential floods.

In this regard, he also interacted with villagers and gathered detailed information about the villages affected during previous floods. He appealed to the villagers to remain vigilant and follow the guidelines issued by the administration.

Continuous Monitoring and Prompt Action Emphasized

The District Magistrate placed special emphasis on maintaining continuous monitoring in rural areas in anticipation of potential floods. He stated that providing immediate relief to affected families in flood situations would be the administration's top priority.

Concerned officials were instructed to ensure immediate action on any information related to floods. He also stressed the importance of having necessary equipment and resources available at flood outposts, along with ensuring the alertness of personnel.

The District Magistrate reiterated that all preparations must be completed before the floods, not after. He cautioned officials against any level of negligence regarding potential floods. He also appealed to the villagers not to pay attention to rumors and to immediately inform the administration in case of any emergency.

During the inspection, the District Magistrate also obtained information from officials regarding the geographical conditions and sensitive locations in the area. He directed for the optimal utilization of locally available resources in relief and rescue operations.

Relief Distribution as Per Government's Intent

The District Magistrate assured that the administration is fully alert and all necessary preparations are being made to deal with potential flood situations. He directed officials to maintain continuous monitoring of areas likely to be affected by floods and to stay in contact with villagers.

He stated that, in line with the government's intent, relief and essential facilities will be provided to every affected person on time during a disaster. He instructed officials to regularly review all arrangements and promptly address any shortcomings.

Present during the inspection were Chief Development Officer Vishal Kumar, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chunar Aneg Singh, Tehsildar Chunar, Village Head of Bagahi Reshu Patel, and other concerned officials.
