Upon sighting the police, Javed attempted to evade arrest by opening fire on the team with the intent to kill. In self-defense, the police retaliated with limited firing, resulting in Javed sustaining a gunshot wound to his left leg, after which he fell and was apprehended.

The injured accused identified himself as Javed, son of Islam, a resident of Durgaji Pahadi, Nai Basti, Ahraura police station, Mirzapur district (aged 23 years). A search of his person yielded:

• One live and one spent cartridge (315 bore)
• ₹5,300 in cash, identified as looted money
• The victim's Aadhaar card

The injured accused was immediately taken to the Ahraura Primary Health Center for treatment, where his condition is reported to be stable.
