Mirzapur: Accused of Minor's Rape Attempt and Inciting Suicide Arrested

Two Arrested in Mirzapur for Serious Crimes

Mirzapur district police have apprehended two individuals involved in two separate serious criminal cases. The Cheelh police station arrested one accused in connection with an attempted rape of a minor, while the Ahraura police station arrested another person for abetting suicide. These arrests have brought relief to the local community and highlighted the police's prompt action.

Minor's Rape Attempt Case

Acting on a written complaint from a woman, the Cheelh police took action. The complainant alleged that the named accused had molested her minor daughter, hurled abuses, and threatened to kill her. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at Cheelh police station under sections 75, 76, 351(3), 352 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and sections 7/8 of the POCSO Act.

Superintendent of Police Mirzapur, Aparna Rajat Kaushik, took serious note of the case involving the molestation of a minor. She directed the formation of a team, led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (City) and Circle Officer (Sadar), to ensure the immediate arrest of the accused.

In compliance with these orders, the Cheelh police, acting on informant information, apprehended the accused, Ravi Kant alias Monu, son of Sudh, resident of Purtababa Majhgawan village, Mirzapur, near Chikwa Ground on August 30, 2026. The accused was arrested under sections 64(1), 352, 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and sections 3/4 of the POCSO Act. Following legal procedures, he was presented in court and subsequently sent to jail.

Husband Arrested for Inciting Suicide

In a related development, the Ahraura police station arrested a named accused in a case of abetting suicide, who is also the victim's husband. The incident came to light on August 28, 2026, when Deenanath Pal, a resident of Chakaliya village, filed a written complaint against the named accused for allegedly driving his daughter to suicide.

Based on this complaint, a case was registered at Ahraura police station under section 108 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), and an investigation was initiated. Considering the gravity of the incident, Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik issued instructions to the Circle Officer (Operations) for the accused's arrest.

Under these directives, the Ahraura police conducted investigative proceedings and arrested the accused, Sushil Pal, son of Ramsubhag Pal, resident of Sariya Ekali, Ahraura police station, Mirzapur, near Mahuli Tiraha Canal Bridge on August 30, 2026. After completing the necessary legal formalities, the accused was presented in court, from where he was remanded to jail.

These two arrests once again demonstrate the local administration's commitment to maintaining law and order.
