Fatehpur: A minor argument escalated into a violent incident on Thursday in the Asni village of Fatehpur district, Uttar Pradesh, resulting in the fatal shooting of a young man. The incident has created a tense atmosphere in the village, prompting heightened alertness from the police administration.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 29, in Asni village, under the jurisdiction of Hussainganj police station. According to preliminary information, firing ensued after a minor disagreement, during which the youth sustained critical injuries. Upon receiving the information, local police arrived at the scene and rushed the injured to a medical facility, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Police Action and Investigation
Given the seriousness of the incident, Superintendent of Police (SP) Fatehpur, Abhimanyu Manglik, personally visited the crime scene. He received a detailed account of the incident from police officers present on Sunday and issued necessary directives for the investigation.
The SP also met with the deceased's family, offering condolences and gathering information related to the incident. According to the SP, a case has been registered under relevant sections based on the complaint filed by the deceased's family. Several special police teams have been formed to ensure the arrest of the perpetrators and are conducting raids at suspected locations.
In connection with the case, police have taken a liquor shop salesman, Govardhan Nishad, into custody and are questioning him.
Security and Further Action
The process of inquest for the deceased's body has been completed, and it is being sent for post-mortem as per regulations. Considering the sensitivity of the situation, a substantial police force has been deployed in Asni and Narhi villages to prevent any untoward incidents and maintain law and order. Police are focused on apprehending the accused and also on determining the precise reasons behind the shooting.
