Minerals Department Takes Action in Guna-Jamner: Two Tractor-Trolleys Carrying M-Sand and Sand Seized

In a proactive move to curb illegal mineral extraction, transportation, and storage, the Minerals Department has been actively conducting operations across the district, following directives from Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal. This sustained effort led to a surprise inspection campaign in Guna city and the Jamner area.

During this campaign, the department's team successfully seized two tractor-trolleys found to be illegally transporting M-sand and sand. This action is a direct result of the Collector's 'zero tolerance' policy aimed at preventing the illicit exploitation of natural resources.

Seizures Made During Inspections

While on patrol in Guna city, an inspection team spotted and apprehended a tractor-trolley laden with M-sand. This vehicle was subsequently secured at the Collectorate premises. The M-sand was being transported without any legal permits, constituting a clear violation of regulations.

Similarly, during a surprise check in the Jamner area on Friday night, another tractor-trolley carrying sand was impounded. This vehicle was also engaged in the illegal transportation of sand. With the assistance of the local police, the seized vehicle has been handed over to the Jamner Police Station for further investigation and necessary action.

Legal Action Initiated Against Illegal Transport

In-charge Minerals Inspector Vijay Kumar Chakravarty stated that cases have been registered against the operators of both seized vehicles under relevant sections. Statutory action has been initiated against the respective operators as per the Madhya Pradesh Minor Minerals Rules. Penalties, including fines or other punishments stipulated for regulatory violations, will now be applicable.

The department is currently conducting an in-depth investigation into other aspects of these cases, seeking to determine the origin and intended destination of the M-sand and sand. The objective extends beyond just apprehending vehicles to exposing the entire network of illegal mining and transportation, thereby preventing such activities in the future.

Continued Vigilance and Future Commitment

Following strict and clear instructions from Collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal, continuous and stringent monitoring of mineral-related activities is being maintained throughout the district. The department is conducting regular patrols and surprise inspections.

The aim of this swift and effective action is to prevent any form of illegal activity in the future, which not only leads to a loss of government revenue but also causes environmental damage. The entire staff of the Minerals Department was present at the scene during this important operation, providing cooperation in maintaining law and order. The department is committed to continuing such actions in the future.
