Cyber Cell Recovers Funds in Meesho App Fraud Case
Mirzapur | August 26, 2026. A woman who fell victim to an online shopping scam through the Meesho app in Mirzapur has received significant relief. The Cyber Cell, Kotwali City Police Station team, acting swiftly, has successfully recovered ₹11,680 of the defrauded amount and returned it to the victim's account.
The case came to light when the complainant, Aanchal Yadav, daughter of Ajay Kumar Yadav, filed a complaint of online fraud on the NCRP portal on April 2, 2026. In her complaint, she stated that a total of ₹23,360 was defrauded from her account while shopping online on the Meesho app.
Prompt Action and Investigation
Taking immediate action, the victim filed a cyber complaint, after which the Cyber Cell, Kotwali City Police Station team commenced an investigation into the matter. Under the guidance of Mirzapur Superintendent of Police Aparna Rajat Kaushik, and the leadership of the Additional Superintendent of Police (City) and Circle Officer (City), the Cyber Cell team advanced the investigation.
Significant Role of Cyber Cell in Fund Recovery
During the investigation conducted on August 26, 2026, the Cyber Cell team succeeded in recovering ₹11,680 out of the total transferred amount of ₹23,360 and returning it to the victim's account. Upon the money being credited back to her account, the victim, Aanchal Yadav, highly praised the Cyber Cell, Kotwali City Police Station team and expressed her gratitude.
In connection with this incident, the Cyber Cell team also educated the complainant on various methods to avoid online fraud as part of their cyber awareness campaign. They explained how cybercrimes can be prevented by exercising caution and avoiding suspicious links or offers. The complainant was also advised to alert others about cyber fraud.
