Massive Rush at 12 Jyotirlingas on Maha Shivratri; 11-Foot Floral Sehra for Mahakal in Ujjain

Devotees across India thronged major Shiva temples and all 12 Jyotirlingas since midnight on the occasion of Maha Shivratri. From Ujjain to Varanasi and Deoghar, long queues were seen as special prayers and rituals began in the early hours.

Around 3 quintals of flowers have been arranged to adorn Lord Mahakal as a groom.

An 11-foot floral sehra has been prepared using marigolds, 100 kg of aak flowers, over 1.25 lakh bel leaves, and 200 kg of indigenous flowers.

Temple doors opened at 2:30 AM, and continuous darshan will continue for 44 hours.

Nearly 10 lakh devotees are expected to visit.

Kashi Vishwanath Temple (Varanasi):

Mangala Aarti was performed at 2:15 AM, and gates opened at 3:30 AM.

Devotees lined up overnight, with queues stretching up to 5 km outside the temple.

Baidyanath Dham (Deoghar):

Traditional rituals were performed, including special worship of temple spires.

A ceremonial wedding ritual of Lord Baidyanath and Goddess Parvati was conducted.

Temple doors opened at 4:25 AM for general devotees.

Omkareshwar Temple (Khandwa):

Temple opened at 3:00 AM for darshan.

Devotees are allowed continuous worship for 24 hours.

Maha Shivratri, one of the most significant festivals dedicated to Lord Shiva, is being celebrated with heightened security arrangements and elaborate floral decorations across the country. Authorities have deployed additional police and crowd management teams to ensure smooth darshan for the massive influx of devotees.
