Grand Ceremony Held Under Chief Minister's Collective Marriage Scheme
The Uttar Pradesh government's ambitious Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme was the backdrop for a grand ceremony held at Maya Hotel in Balrampur on Thursday, October 15, 2026. A total of 192 eligible couples from various development blocks and urban bodies of the district solemnized their marriages according to traditional customs and rituals.
The event proved to be a significant occasion of joy and enthusiasm for both the newlyweds and their families. Local public representatives, including Sadar MLA Paltu Ram and Tulsipur MLA Kailash Nath Shukla, attended the ceremony. Guests blessed the newlywed couples, wishing them a happy, prosperous, and auspicious married life.
Sadar MLA Paltu Ram described the scheme as an important public welfare initiative for economically weaker families. He stated that the scheme not only provides financial assistance for daughters' weddings but also promotes social harmony and the spirit of simple marriages.
Review of Arrangements and Instructions to Officials
District Magistrate Dr. Vipin Kumar Jain personally visited the venue and conducted a thorough inspection of the arrangements. He reviewed the cleanliness, drinking water, seating arrangements, and other facilities provided for the couples and their families.
The District Magistrate interacted with the newlyweds, inquiring about their well-being and extending best wishes for their new journey. He issued clear instructions to the concerned officials to ensure that all benefits for eligible beneficiaries under the Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme are provided transparently and in a timely manner, in accordance with established provisions.
He emphasized the importance of paying special attention to eligibility criteria and the convenience of beneficiaries during the scheme's implementation.
Financial Provisions and Objectives of the Scheme
The state government provides a total sum of one lakh rupees per couple under the Chief Minister Collective Marriage Scheme to support the weddings of daughters from economically weaker families. Of this amount, 60,000 rupees is directly transferred to the bride's bank account.
Additionally, 25,000 rupees worth of wedding gift items are provided, while 15,000 rupees is allocated for the expenses of the wedding ceremony and necessary arrangements. The primary objective of this scheme is to assist economically weaker families with their daughters' marriages, reduce unnecessary wedding expenses, and provide newlyweds with an opportunity to start their new life with dignity.
The mass wedding program held in Balrampur once again underscored the significant contribution of government aid to social welfare initiatives. All 192 couples completed their wedding rituals according to prescribed customs by the end of the program, for which the families lauded the administration's initiative.
