Mass Hospitalisation in Indore: Around 25 Transgender Individuals Allegedly Consume Phenyl

At least 25 members of the transgender community in Indore were admitted to Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH) on Wednesday night after reportedly consuming phenyl together, hospital officials confirmed.

Hospital Update
Dr Basant Kumar Ningwal, Superintendent-in-Charge at MYH, told PTI:

"Around 25 people from the transgender community have been admitted to our hospital. They have claimed to have consumed phenyl together, but this cannot be immediately confirmed."

He added that none of the patients are in critical condition, and treatment is ongoing.

Investigation Underway

The exact reason behind the mass consumption remains unclear. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya said:

"Only after investigation will it become clear as to what substance the transgender community people had consumed, and why."

A senior police officer suggested that the incident might be linked to a dispute between two local groups within the transgender community. Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances.
