VisionQuest Announced at New York Comic Con
Marvel Television revealed on Saturday at this year’s New York Comic Con that VisionQuest — the final installment in the Vision saga — is currently in development and will release in 2026. The series follows up on the events of 2021’s WandaVision and last year’s Agatha All Along, promising a deeper exploration of Vision’s identity and legacy within the MCU.
Fans attending the event were treated to exclusive footage showcasing several key cast members. Henry Lewis will portray D.U.M.-E, Jonathan Sayer as U, James D’Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., and Emily Hampshire as E.D.I.T.H. Additionally, James Spader returns as Ultron, reprising his role from Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015).
A surprising cameo was also teased with Ruaridh Mollica appearing in a CCTV recording as Thomas Shepherd, according to Marvel’s official website.
Vision’s Journey: Memories Without Emotion
During the panel, Paul Bettany provided insights into Vision’s arc in the upcoming series. “Red Vision gave Vision all of his memories, including those from the Hex. But White Vision is struggling to connect to them,” Bettany explained.
He elaborated, “He has the memories but not the emotions or feelings. VisionQuest will follow White Vision as he attempts to reconcile who he was with these memories… and yes, with lasers.” Bettany, who famously played both J.A.R.V.I.S. and Vision in the MCU, emphasized that the series will explore Vision’s identity in a more introspective and action-driven way.
Mystery Surrounding the Series’ Tone
When asked if VisionQuest will experiment with genres like WandaVision did with sitcoms, executive producer Brad Winderbaum remained deliberately cryptic. “The less we say, the better,” Winderbaum stated. “But Terry [McDonough] knows the lore. If you’ve been following the MCU all these years, you’re going to be very, very, very rewarded.”
Looking Ahead
VisionQuest promises to be a pivotal addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, tying together threads from prior series and films while offering a deeper, character-driven story. Fans can expect returning favorites, new faces, and a blend of action, emotional stakes, and MCU lore, setting the stage for the conclusion of Vision’s narrative in the upcoming series.
