Man Dies Under Suspicious Circumstances, Suicide Abetment Case Filed
A young man died under suspicious circumstances after consuming a poisonous substance near the National Highway toll plaza in the Fatehganj Paschimi police station area of Bareilly. The deceased has been identified as Ravindra Singh, a resident of Dospur Haveli alias Balema village, under the Tilhar police station in Shahjahanpur.
Following the incident, Ravindra's father, Gurmail Singh, has filed a case under serious sections against Gurpreet Kaur, a resident of Chandua Nagla village in the Khajuriya police station of Rampur, her mother Pinder Kaur, and sister-in-law Satendra Kaur, accusing them of inciting suicide.
Allegations of Blackmail and Coercion
In his complaint to the police, the deceased's father, Gurmail Singh, alleged that a woman named Gurpreet Kaur had ensnared Ravindra Singh in a romantic relationship. The woman allegedly blackmailed Ravindra by making a video of him, extorting approximately 25 lakh rupees from him.
When Ravindra sought the return of his money, Gurpreet Kaur reportedly threatened to frame him in false cases. According to the father, on the night of September 14, 2026, Gurpreet called Ravindra to the toll plaza and incited him to commit suicide. It is alleged that Ravindra consumed poison under this provocation, while the woman did not.
Video Released After Incident, Investigation Underway
The father further alleged that immediately after the incident, Gurpreet Kaur also released a video of Ravindra Singh. When the incident came to light, the family members reached the spot, where Ravindra was found dead. The police have taken possession of the body and sent it for post-mortem.
Police Confirm Investigation
CO Highway, Devesh Singh, stated that a report for abetment of suicide has been registered based on the victim's father's complaint. The police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and a charge sheet will be filed in court against the culprits based on evidence. The police are meticulously examining every aspect of the case.
