New Buildings and Bypass Demanded for Mahooba in Legislative Council

On the third day of the monsoon session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, MLC Jitendra Singh Sengar raised two significant issues concerning the Mahooba district. He formally requested the construction of new buildings for the Veerbhoomi Government Post Graduate College and a crucial bypass route in Kabarai, urging the government for prompt action on these demands.

Drawing the attention of the House under Rule 110, Sengar highlighted that the Higher Education Department had created 30 new posts for Assistant Professors and staff at the Veerbhoomi Government Post Graduate College in Mahooba headquarters. The establishment of new rooms, an examination hall, and residential buildings is deemed essential to facilitate teaching of new subjects, conduct examinations, and accommodate faculty and staff.

With approximately 3500 students currently enrolled in the college, Sengar emphasized that the expansion of basic infrastructure is now indispensable following the creation of new positions. He urged the government to immediately commence the process for constructing new rooms, the examination hall, and a PG block.

Urgent Need for Bypass Construction in Kabarai

MLC Sengar also voiced his concern over the escalating number of road accidents in the Kabarai region. He pointed out the presence of 10 to 12 crushers and mineral leases along the Kabarai-Kunjata Road, leading to constant heavy truck traffic. This situation has significantly increased the risk of accidents within the urban limits.

He cited two separate road accidents that occurred on July 28 and 30 on the same route, which resulted in fatalities. To address this pressing issue, Sengar proposed the construction of a bypass/four-lane divider route, approximately six kilometers long. This route would start from opposite Tata Motors in Kabarai on the Kanpur-Sagar National Highway and extend along the canal bank to Kabarai Dam.

Sengar stressed that land acquisition would not be necessary for this bypass as the canal bank and associated land are already under the jurisdiction of the Irrigation Department. He believes this bypass would provide a safe passage for heavy vehicles outside the town, ease traffic congestion, and reduce road accidents. The MLC called for immediate government action on this proposal and a statement in the House.
