Mahoba: Officers Colony Burglary Solved, 4 Arrested in Encounter
Mahoba police cracked a major burglary case, arresting four accused in an encounter where two were injured and stolen valuables were recovered.
Burglary Solved, Four Accused Apprehended
Mahoba Police have successfully solved a high-value burglary incident, apprehending four suspects during a police encounter. Two of the accused sustained bullet injuries in the exchange of fire and have been taken into custody. The recovered items include stolen jewelry, cash, illegal weapons, and ammunition.
The crime took place on the night of August 2, 2026, in the vicinity of Officers Colony under the Kotwali Nagar police station. Unknown miscreants had broken into a vacant house and stolen valuables worth lakhs. A case was registered at Kotwali Nagar police station based on the victim's complaint, and the police had been actively investigating the matter.
Police-Criminal Encounter
Under the special campaign against criminals led by Superintendent of Police Shashank Singh, the Kotwali Nagar police, in conjunction with the district SWAT/Surveillance team, conducted a joint operation. Acting on information received from an informant on Tuesday night, police attempted to corner suspects near the canal bridge on Patha Road, ahead of Sanjari School.
According to sources, as soon as the police signaled the accused to stop, they opened fire on the police. In self-defense, the police retaliated, resulting in two accused, identified as Yaseen alias Ghoda and Waris alias Luchchi, sustaining bullet wounds.
Arrests and Recoveries
Following the encounter, police arrested the injured Yaseen and Waris, along with Naeem alias Chape and a juvenile suspect from the scene. During interrogation, the arrested accused confessed to committing the burglary in Officers Colony with two other accomplices.
Police recovered stolen goods from the accused, including gold and silver jewelry, a silver waist chain, anklets, toe rings, bangles, and other valuables. Additionally, ₹18,500 in cash, two illegal firearms (tamanchas), three live cartridges, and two spent cartridges were also seized.
Search for Absconding Accused Continues
Police stated that teams are actively pursuing the two other absconding accused involved in the burglary, with efforts underway for their swift apprehension. Preliminary investigations revealed that accused Waris alias Luchchi and Yaseen alias Ghoda have previous criminal records, indicating their involvement in other criminal activities. Police are continuing their investigation to identify other members of the gang and prevent future incidents.
