Allegations of Lack of Transparency in Development Works
Elected members of Gram Panchayat Chhanikala in Mahoba district's Charkhari block have accused the village head and secretary of lacking transparency in development works. They have demanded an impartial investigation from the District Magistrate and also pleaded for the payment of their honorarium, which has been pending for five years.
Led by BJP leader Narendra Mishra, the Panchayat representatives submitted a formal affidavit to the District Magistrate, detailing their grievances. The members seriously allege that Village Head Babu Yadav and Village Secretary Jagat Narayan do not provide them with any information about the development works being carried out in the Panchayat.
Arbitrary Planning and Fund Disbursement Criticized
According to the complainants, work plans were prepared arbitrarily without holding Gram Sabha meetings, and payments for government funds were also disbursed. The representatives stated that they were kept completely unaware of the entire process, which they consider a direct violation of Panchayati Raj rules.
Demand for Thorough Investigation into Development Projects
The elected members of Chhanikala Gram Panchayat have urged the District Magistrate to conduct an immediate and impartial investigation into all development works undertaken in the Panchayat and their related payments. They fear that the quality of development works may be affected due to the withholding of information and violation of rules.
The members also clarified that they are entirely unaware of these unauthorized schemes. Beyond the irregularities in development works, the Panchayat members have also prominently raised the issue of their honorarium not being paid for the last five years. They stated that on several occasions, attempts were made to seek clarification from the Village Secretary regarding this matter, but instead of providing a satisfactory response, they were consistently met with procrastination.
