DAP Fertilizer Distribution Resumes in Ajnar After Long Wait

Mahoba | October 14, 2026

After an eight-day wait, the distribution of DAP fertilizer finally commenced on Wednesday at the Ajnar Cooperative Society in Mahoba district. Farmers endured extreme heat and chaotic arrangements, intensifying their worries about obtaining essential fertilizer for the crucial sowing season.

Farmers Face Chaos and Shortages

Hundreds of farmers were seen waiting for their turn at the cooperative society premises. Out of the five hundred bags of DAP fertilizer made available, only two hundred bags were distributed on the first day. The remaining three hundred bags have been promised for the next day.

The situation worsened for farmers queuing for extended periods when the POS machine used for distribution malfunctioned, causing significant delays. The distribution process was halted for several hours due to these technical glitches and overall disarray.

POS Machine Failure Disrupts Distribution

Distribution resumed only after the POS machine was repaired around 1 PM. Prior to the repair, out of approximately one hundred and fifty farmers who had received tokens, only seventy managed to get the fertilizer, while eighty were forced to return empty-handed.

Rumors of the distribution halting completely led to panic among the farmers, requiring intervention from local authorities to manage the situation. The presence of a police force led by SSI Radheshyam of Ajnar police station was maintained throughout the day to ensure law and order.

Allegations of Irregularities in Token System

Farmers raised serious questions about the token system implemented for fertilizer distribution. Some farmers alleged that a Patwari (land record official) arbitrarily issued four tokens each to a select few farmers, preventing eligible and needy farmers from receiving the fertilizer.

These accusations cast a shadow on the fairness of the distribution process. The scarcity of DAP fertilizer during the critical sowing period has heightened farmers' anxieties. They have strongly urged the administration to ensure a transparent and well-managed fertilizer distribution system to prevent future chaos and shortages.
